    Message From the Dean

Welcome to The Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School!

I take great pride in welcoming you to the web site of the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School.

Ever since I had the privilege of founding the Day School, over 25 years ago, I have tried to guide the school toward its present level of excellence.  My motto has always been "L'dor va'dor," which means "from generation to generation."  To me, this is the motto of the Jewish People, because we must concentrate on the education of our youth to ensure our future.  At Park East, we have put this idea into practice, and we have thousands of graduates who have made and are making successful contributions to the Jewish community, to New York and to the United States.

I am particularly gratified that our school strives to offer a rigorous general academic curriculum seamlessly integrated with a superlative Judaic Studies course, all with a decided international focus.  These goals are pursued in a positive, intellectually stimulating environment designed to foster respect and kindness.

Throughout my life, I have worked tirelessly to promote international understanding, religious freedom and peaceful coexistence.  I have tried never to remove my eye from that goal.  Our school is also a vehicle for communicating that in which I have always believed so strongly---that Judaism as a religion, as a value system, has a special message for the world, and that nations can and must learn to live together in peace.  One of the oldest and most poignant examples of human rights is found in the Torah: As Jews, we repeat in our prayers, "Remember the Exodus from Egypt, from slavery to freedom," an enslavement and liberation of an entire people.

Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School's academic curriculum prepares students to enter New York's finest High Schools.  We are deeply committed to educating our children to be proud of their Jewish heritage and identity, take pride in being patriotic citizens of the United States, love the State of Israel, and, at the same time, learn to respect all cultures and to love peace.

I believe that our school has a profound message for our childrens' future.  We look forward to welcoming you and your children into our educational community.
